The
New York City Department of Education in collaboration with Smithsonian
Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum present the 2014 COVER DESIGN
COMPETITION. Your Design could be
next!!!!
What is the Cover Design
Competition?
The
competition encourages participants to reflect on their lives as public school
students in New York City and express their ideas artistically in the form of a
cover design.
Who is eligible to
participate?
The
2014 Cover Design Competition is open to all students currently enrolled in a
New York City public high school. What will I learn?
Serving as an exploration of the design profession, this exciting opportunity extends beyond the classroom and gives students a taste of the design world from the perspective of a graphic designer serving a client. Finalists of the Cover Design Competition will have the opportunity to work with a real-world client (the Department of Education), develop their design with professional designers, and gain practical experience they can take with them after high school.
What is the impact?
The grand prize winner’s design will be featured as the cover of the Department of Education's annual Directory of New York City Public High Schools and used for related materials – including signs, bags, and t-shirts – for the 2014-2015 school year.
