Start a Career in Maintenance

Strive's Green Building Maintenance Skills Training Program might be for you. This is a free 9 week program. If your are between the ages of 18-45 years old and physically fit.

Scholarship for High School Seniors

Each year, 10 high school graduating seniors across New York City become part of the Thomas G. Labrecque Smart Start Scholarship Program. Participation as a Smart Start student provides a paid internship at JPMorgan Chase throughout the student's four years of college. Applications must be submitted by January 18, 2013.

National Mentoring Month

New Year New Start . . . January is National Mentoring Month so learn how Mentoring Works!  To be a Mentor, you don't need special skills, just an ability to listen and to offer friendship, guidance and encouragement to a young person.  Visit www.mentoring.org/newyork for more information.

Digital Work NYC

Digital Work NYC is a program hosted in the Computer Resources Centers (CRCs) with New York City Parks & Recreation. CRCs are currently seeking capable young adults interested in computer training and online work opportunities. CRCs are located throughout New York City where highly qualified instructors will engage young adults in their search for employment in the digital workplace. The first session begins January 2013. You must be between the ages of 16-26 to enroll in this free 10 week training course and take free Microsoft or Adobe certification test.

Year Up! Earn While You Learn

Do you want to earn while you learn? Earn a stipend of up to $260.00 weekly. Learn in-demand technical, financial and professional skills for 5 months. Year up New York is a one year, intensive training program that provides low-income young adults ages 18-24 with a combination of hands on skill development. Youth Count

On January 28, 2013, from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am, the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) will conduct its first-ever Homeless Youth Count.
